RUGGERO MAGGI / Tibet Pavilion.
Tibet Pavilion
a dream that made a mark
Firm decisions are necessary, from now on, to keep believing, hoping for a country with a violent dignity, with a hurt culture: Ruggero Maggi’s project for Tibet Pavilion INviso – dedicated to the monk Tsewang Norbu that recently immolated himself – wants to be a strong protest sign to remember all Tibetan martyrs, which spirit is embodied by the Dalai Lama, central figure in the Tibetan community.
His face is Tibet’s symbol.
His spirituality is a monition for all, a monition for do not forget… The idea is disarming in his simplicity:
on Sunday 28th August, artists, friends and supporters of the Tibetan cause are going to meet at the pavilion from 10.00 am to 12.00 am to walk together, crying out in silent pain and protest, wearing a mask with Dalai Lama’s face, the most INviso face for Chinese politicians, until the entrance of the Arsenale, where the China Pavilion is hosted, for a silent and bleeding presence.
Tragic masks will cry without sound their outrage through a collective action.
Tibet Pavilion is going to finish his Venetian phase with a finissage on Sunday 28th August at 17.00. In this occasion is going to be presented a over 3 hour-long video-catalogue that resumes khata works, typical scarfs offered by Tibetan monks as a welcome and friendship sign, contemporary artist’s participations, Kappa and her group’s performance, poetical reading by Paola Caramel, live set by Romina Salvadori ft Madriema, italian and english poetical texts, Dario Ballantini’s interview, Arcana’s event, Dalai Lama’s birthday with the purposeful presence of Tamding Choephel (Tibet Culture House) and Claudio Tecchio (Campagna di Solidarietà con il Popolo Tibetano) and the production of a mandala which dispersion ceremony will be done by Tibetan monks during the evening 28th August it is going to present also the video “Not me” by Francesca Lolli, with Shi Yang Shy, emblematic presence of a brave Chinese artist at the event.
